Today a lot of internet pages propose antique clocks for sale. In the twenty first century not only rich persons can get it but it became also an avocation of usual persons.

On the turn of the XIV and XV centuries mantel and room clocks began usually to be found. Iron was the material for such clocks at that time and they were wound with the assistance of weights. The first mantel clocks were alike to tower clocks. They had the similar layout and elements.

In the XV century persons used walls' consoles where clocks were placed. Timber console became a component of the frame of clocks after a few centuries and it was stylized to the whole clocks design. Of course, in the Middle ages and later it was 1 of the most important parts of a room's design. They were a component of the entire interior ensemble where all the details had to be done due to the major fashion of the age. The most prominent asters of applied art such as Roentgen, Goutier and Benemann, also worked over the artistic view of their clocks. They worked over their own models and made clocks in the unique exemplars. Only at the end of the XVIII century the remakes of the most notable models were found.
